Hocking Hills Ohio area has great events any time of year. These events include music performances from local and national entertainers, art, carnivals, fund raisers, seasonal festivals, athletic events and more. We have outlined the events by date, starting in January! We hope that you can enjoy an event during your next trip to Ellicottville!

2020 Hocking Hills State Park Winter Hike

Hocking Hills Winter Hike

1/18/2020 - The 55th annaul winter hike in Hocking Hills State Park is a special experience. Over 5,000 vistors participate in the annual hike. See all of Hocking Hills attractions with and ice and snow canvas!.

Hikers should assemble at Hocking Hills State Park Campground at any time from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19. The Winter Hike and all pre-hike and post-hike activities are free. Donations are encouraged for the refreshments, and for the return ride to Old Man's Cave. Commemorative patches and hiking stick medallions are available for purchase.

2020 Sweatheart Hike - Hocking Hills State Park

The Annual Sweatheart Hike at Ash Cave

2/15/2020 - Meet at the Ash Cave parking lot at 5PM. The hike is from 5 PM to 7 PM. Take your sweetheart for a to Ash Cave in the soft light of dusk. Take the leisurely stroll led by Ohio State Park Naturalist Pat Quackenbush along the 1/4 mile trail back to the recess cave. Afterwards, enjoy a fire and refreshments.

3/14/2020 - This is the third annual St. Patrick's Day event on board the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway, Saturday, March 15, 2019 at 5:00 PM. New for 2020, the train will be pulled by a recentlry restored 1920 Baldwin No.3 coal fired steem engin. This is an annual fundraising event for Historic Downtown Nelsonville Assoc., and Burr Oak Alive friends group of Burr Oak State Park. This is a social hour train and riders must be 21 and over. Tickets are limited to 120 people and this event sells out. Enjoy the Bickersons celtic band and the split the pot raffle.

Tickets are $45.00 for this fundraising event which includes Heavy Hors d'oeuvres catered by Rocky Boot Grille, One complimentary Beer or Wine, a Jackie O's Beer Can Glass and Ohio Sticker, and the Train Ride.

Note: Additional beer and wine can be purchased on the train for $5.00 each. Event starts at 5:00 p.m. and the train will return to the depot by approximately 7:30 p.m. Depot will open at 4:00 p.m.

The 2020 Easter Bunny Train and Egg Hunt

The Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad - Easter Bunny Train

4/11/2020 - The popular Easter Bunny Train is a sell out every year! It is a newer tradition in the Hocking Valley, and it has become a favorite of kids of all ages.

They have two trains that depart on Saturday, April 11th: one at 11:00 a.m. and the second at 3:00 p.m. Each train travels past Haydenville, before returning to Nelsonville.

Along the way back, the train will stop at the Easter Bunny’s secret hiding place where the egg hunt will take place! Areas for different age groups will be set up, and at the announcement to go, all of the kids will take off through their assigned areas and collect Easter eggs. Inside the eggs will be prizes and candy to be picked up at the prize tent.

Once all of the activities are completed, everyone will re-board the train for the remainder of the trip back to the Nelsonville Depot.

This Urban Air® Affair will be awesome! The City of Logan will close the streets to all motorized traffic. Our Airstreams will line the historic downtown, forming a quiet and safe pedestrian mall. Enjoy lots of live music, restaurants, Airstream factory experts, company tours and more. Board a shuttle as we journey to discover an authentic moonshine distillery, a brewery, the scenic splendor of the Hocking Hills, and much more!

It’s the gateway to the Hocking Hills Region, which is part of the Appalachian Landscape. Nearby attractions feature waterfalls, caves, the dark sky park, rivers and lakes for kayaking and fishing, horseback riding, zip-line canopy tours, hiking, rock climbing and the John Glenn Astronomy Park!

2020 Nelsonville Music Festival

The 16th annual Nelsonville Music Festival takes place in Nelsonville, Ohio featuring over 60 musical acts in four days on multiple stages along with on-site camping, artisan vendors, kids activities, food, a beer garden, and more. NMF is a presentation of Stuart’s Opera House, a non-profit historic theater and performing arts center in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Set in the beautiful rolling hills of Southeast Ohio, this intimate festival offers live music from a variety of genres on multiple stages from national, regional, and local acts. Catch live music on multiple stages: NMF features a main stage of course, but also a picturesque Porch Stage, the small No-Fi Cabin featuring artists performing with no electricity, and their FREE Boxcar Stage with music from an old train car turned into a stage backdrop and mural.

2020 Lilyfest

Annual Lilyfest event in Rockbridge, OH

7 - 2019 TBD - The annual 3 day festival has great arts, crafts, music and more!

The Lilyfest is a celebration of arts, crafts, music, and gardens in the Hocking Hills. The annual event is held at the beautiful Bishop Educational Gardens in Rockbridge, Ohio.

Lilyfest’s history dates back to 1992 when Bobbi and Bruce Bishop first hosted the event at their home in the Hocking Hills, Ohio. Bruce Bishop’s lily gardens were showcased and five artists displayed and marketed their works. Lilyfest has grown to over 60 artists, with live music throughout the three acres of beautifully designed gardens, showcasing ponds and a variety of unique garden sculptures.

While at the festival look for plant sales and ask a master gardener your garden-related questions. Enjoy the Butterfly House and stroll through The Lost Viking Hoard Encampment. There is FREE admission, but donations are accepted to help support the educational gradens!

2020 Pawpaw Festival

Ohio PawPaw Festival, Lake Snowden, Ohio

9/11/2020 through 9/13/2020 - The Ohio Pawpaw Festival is a 3 day fun-filled and educational community event celebrating one of America’s largest native tree fruits, the Pawpaw (Asimina triloba). An energetic family environment provides a wide range of hands-on activities. Activities include Brewers' Roundtable and Tasting, horsedrawn wagon rides, kids pedal cars, paw-paw competitions, education tents, live music and more!

The Pawpay festival highlights the rich history and future possibilities of the pawpaw through delectable foods, quality entertainment, unique arts, crafts and local businesses throughout southeastern Ohio and beyond. Special events at the festival include competitions for the best pawpaw, best pawpaw-related work of art, pawpaw cook-off, and the ever-popular pawpaw-eating contest.

There are several competitions, including a 55 mile bike ride event, a 4 mile run and a 1 mile fun run / walk. See their website for details and registration.

2020 Fall Foliage Trains - Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad

Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad Fall Trains

10/1/2020 through 10/23/2020 - 1:00 pm Thursdays and Fridays in October. Enjoy the autumn colors in the hills of the historic Hocking River Valley. Take in the scenery from one of their enclosed coaches or open-air cars. Trains depart each Thursday and Friday from the Nelsonville Depot.

The train take you by the remains of Hocking Canal Lock No. 19 and Haydenville, Ohios last company town. You will also get a glimpse of the current industry in the Valley including gravel mining operations and a lumber facility. On-board narration will provide a history of the area and railroad.

You may bring soft drinks and food aboard. No restrooms on the train (available in the depot). There is a wheelchair lift available at the depot as needed. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure.

12/2020 at 7:00 PM - Take a ride on the Stuart’s Winter Wine Express! This beautiful train ride on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway includes wine, cheese, and more and its all for a good cause… to raise money for Stuart’s Opera House! Show your support for Stuart’s and join us for this great event, take a ride on a historic railway and enjoy wine and good company. See you on the train! Doors will open at 6:00pm for picking up tickets at the Nelsonville Depot at 33 Canal Street.
